Authentic Panama Hats are still trendy and hand-woven originally from Ecuador.

Authentic Panama hats are the art of hand weaving.

The Panama hat   (called the toquilla hat in Ecuador) has been protected as an intangible cultural heritage in the UN program, List of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity, with registration number 11.12 since 2012. It dates back to pre-colonial times. The name Panama hat has been used since 1834.

The quality of a hat depends on the number of threads used to weave the hat and it can take from a week to more than a month to make a hat.

The Fedora model: the brim is depressed in the middle, has two indentations far forward on the sides of the brim and the brim can vary from 6 – 7 cm. 

We have different models and sizes from 55 to 64 cm.

Caring for Panama hats 

• Simpler models cannot be rolled.
• The hat can be stored rolled up for a short time.
• Store without rolling
• Do not roll a dry hat, the straws should be softened by moisture so as not to break during rolling.
• The boards are rolled last
• Always hold the brim, never the heel
• Always put your hat down with the brim down.
• If your Panama hat loses its shape, you can regain its original shape by steaming it gently over a pan.
• The boards are smoothed with a steam iron on low heat.
• Always use a damp product made of undyed fabric.
• The hat should be placed over an object of appropriate shape and size.
• If the hat gets dirty, first try dusting it off with a dry, clean cloth.
• If the stains remain, use   a wet wipe (face or baby wipe). Gently wipe the stain in the direction of the grain, do not scrub hard, never use soap or water.
